“Even on my weakest days I get a little bit stronger.”
– Sara Evans (A Little Bit Stronger)
Life seems like an emotional rollercoaster.
You see other women enjoying hobbies, laughing with friends, enjoying their families. Still, all you feel lately is exhaustion, irritability, loneliness, anxiety, worry – and you’re certainly not emotionally present for anyone.
You aren’t even sure what it would take to get out of this state – and it’s getting worse! You feel like you need an emotional makeover – a transformation of sorts.
But what will this take? Talking to a friend has backfired before – that information went straight to the gossip mill! Talking to the family is out of the question – they don’t seem to understand and usually shame you for being unthankful.
So, where to turn for help?
Counseling offers the help you need.
I can help. I counsel women who are exhausted and burned out after years of taking care of others. After being pulled in so many directions, they no longer knew where the needs of others ended and their needs began.
Using a practical and interactive approach to therapy helps these women connect to and become the best version of themselves.
As they relate to their inner truth and strength, they experience the satisfaction of finally being themselves, allowing them to gain the confidence to lead the life they’ve always wanted.
Here’s a note about self-care.
“Be brave enough to water your own garden first. Then you can help others.”
– unknown
The caring instinct – putting others before oneself – seems especially compelling and obligatory in women’s lives.
Caring seems to be a part of our genetic makeup! Therefore, we women seem to need reminders that when attending to the needs of others, we should give sufficient consideration to what we need and want for ourselves. This consideration is not the same as selfishness!
Yet, many women see self-care as selfish – maybe even morally wrong or forbidden. But self-care is not any more selfish than assertion is aggression! Self-care is necessary to care for others well or carry out responsibilities well. Our mental and physical well-being requires an essential balance of self-care with our natural need to be caring.
Take Some Time Just For You!
Counseling can be your start to self-care. Just think what a luxury it would be to carve out time for yourself!
Through counseling, you have time to explore your thoughts and feelings in a nonjudgmental space while learning new coping skills and setting new goals.
You also finally have time to heal new and old hurts – from the inside out!
You are not alone in this transformation.
I will walk beside you, assisting, encouraging, and reassuring you.
Together, we can make a huge difference in your life!
